This course is a minimum of 10 hours in length and will include the following:

• Lectures covering weapons safety, nonviolent conflict resolution, Texas CHL law, deadly force, and basic handgun marksmanship;
• Written examination;
• Marksmanship examination;
• Notarized application documents;
• TR100 certificate upon completion;

We do not take fingerprints or photos at this time. It is advised that the applicant go to a FAST location (recommended by the DPS) and have their fingerprints taken digitally to avoid delay in processing. Please note, you will need to have your passport photos on hand when you take your fingerprints. The fingerprint technician will need to sign the back of the photographs, along with the fingerprint cards.

Unless otherwise noted, the instruction and shooting proficiency will be held at Eagle Peak Public Shooting Range. The TXCHL1 class fee includes the range fee but not the membership fee. Eagle Peak has a one-time, mandatory, $10 lifetime membership fee. If you are currently a member of Eagle Peak, you are not required to purchase a new membership; bring your membership card to class.
