Introduction to Handguns (INTROHND1)

If you are new to handguns and would like to know some of the fundamentals, this class is for you. Shooters will learn the basics of safely deploying and caring for a handgun.

  • Weapons storage;
  • Handgun cleaning and care;
  • Basic firearm mechanics (how a firearm works);
  • Basic terminology;
  • Proper grip, stance, trigger press, and sight alignment;
  • Where to find up-to-date information on firearms topics;
  • Your mentality…becoming a shooter who is aware;

Requirements:

  • Serviceable pistol or revolver;
  • Approximately 300 rounds of ammunition;
  • Two magazines or speed loaders;
  • Eye/ear protection;
  • Appropriate attire for the season;

Tactical Handgun I (TACHNDG1)

This course will move beyond the introductory topics and focus on the fundamentals of shooting. Shooters will learn the fundamentals of safely deploying a firearm. The student will begin to see how the fundamentals need to be accomplished perfectly for correct and consistent shot placement, as well as be ready for continued development off the range. Predominance of class time will be engaging targets down range.

Tactical Handgun II (TACHNDG2)

This course will move beyond the introductory topics and focus on the fundamentals of shooting, and builds on the lessons learned in Handgun Marksmanship I. Shooters will learn the fundamentals of safely deploying a firearm. The student will begin to see how the fundamentals need to be accomplished perfectly for correct and consistent shot placement, as well as be ready for continued development off the range. Predominance of class time will be engaging targets down range, and certain drills will incorporate the use of a timer.
